COMMONWEALTH UROLOGY has been providing high quality urologic care to Central Kentucky residents since 1927. The current Lexington practice division was formed in 1994 from the merger of doctors Walt Brewer, M. Randolph Gillium, William E. Blackburn and John D. Donally. Over time, other area urology practices were added, and today, Commonwealth Urology is comprised of 7 practice divisions, 19 board-certified physicians and 2 physician assistants, located throughout Central and Eastern Kentucky.Since it’s founding, Commonwealth Urology has been dedicated to providing cutting-edge care for our patients and communities. Our physicians serve on many local hospital committees and continually add new technology and services to meet the growing needs of our patients, such as the addition of a state-of-the-art diagnostic facility, including a CT scanner, in 2007, which offers the same professional diagnostic procedures available at hospitals, but in an easily accessible facility that promotes a calm, relaxed environment.
In 2011, in the face of a changing healthcare system, Commonwealth Urology chose to become an associated practice of Lexington Clinic. This association took effect on April 1, 2011, at which time Commonwealth Urology physicians became members of Lexington Clinic’s Associate Physician Network. By combining our efforts with Lexington Clinic, Commonwealth Urology is better positioned to meet and exceed the challenges of the changing healthcare system, and provide exciting new opportunities and exceptional care for our patients.
Commonwealth Urology serves patients in Lexington, Frankfort, Winchester, Danville, Richmond, and Somerset and provides specialty clinics to many other communities throughout the commonwealth.
